Reid
sat thinking about the phone calls he'd received from her. He never met Maeve
before and yet he knew loved her. His love for her wasn't just apparent to him,
but to the rest of the team as well. Morgan could tell just from the way Reid
walked around with his head in the clouds that something was different.
“What’s
with you, pretty boy?” Morgan asked breaking Reid away from his reverie.
“What
do you mean what’s with me?” Reid answered clearly annoyed that he’d been
broken from his thoughts.
“You
walk around with your head in the clouds, and during cases your thoughts aren’t
as clear as they were before. Spencer is there something bothering you?”
“No,
well not really.” Spencer said with a dorky smile coming across his face.
“Ooohh,
so what’s her name?” Derek knew his friend all too well.
“Maeve…”
Reid trailed.
“And..
so when do I get to meet this Maeve?”
Just
as Morgan asked, Reid’s phone went off and a look of panic took over his face. “Sooner
than you might think.”
“Wait
was that her? What happened?”
“Yes
it was and she thinks her stalker is back.”
“So
we’re FBI why are you so scared?”
“She’s
never called me on my cellphone before. Something is majorly wrong!”
After
telling Hotch, the team triangulated the signal from the phone Maeve had texted
Reid from and they were off. As they drove Reid tried to fight the thoughts of
Maeve hurt or worse.. The thought brought stinging tears to Reid’s eyes.
“She’ll
be fine Reid.” Morgan tried to sooth Reid but it only made matters worse. Their
surroundings didn’t help matters either. The abandoned buildings they pulled up
to struck fear into Reid’s heart.
Reid
exited the Suburban and almost instantly he received another text telling him
to enter the building alone. Reid entered
the dark and decaying building and made it up the stairs. From the stairs he
found Maeve bound in a room not too far from the stairs. When Reid entered the
room he found a woman holding a gun to the back of Maeve’s head.
“Do
you remember me Dr. Reid?” She asked as if he should respond yes.
“No,
Should I?”
“Yes!!”
She answered outraged. “You read my PHD paper and told me my theories were
wrong.” She said bitterly. “Now do you remember?”
“No,
I still don’t know….” Were the last things he muttered as she turned the gun towards
him and pulled the trigger.
Maeve
bolted towards him and whispered “I love
you, Reid” as the woman shot Maeve. A tear rolled down his cheek as he took his
last breath.
